Overview

As a HR Service Center Representative is the front-line HR professional handling all initial HR, payroll, and benefit inquiries regarding policy, practices, procedures, and benefit plan provision and coverages. The HR Service Center Representative is responsible for overseeing and processing a variety of transactions in the areas of human resource administration, employment and benefits. This is a temporary position.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to incoming phone calls and emails during scheduled times from employees, managers and outside agencies or vendors. Reference company policies and procedures to ensure accuracy of response and to offer all available information to assist the caller with the highest level of customer service.  Determine and address any unstated needs. Record the details of each call.  Protects the Company by maintaining confidentiality of all HR and benefit related information. 
  • Research issues, interpret legislation, policies and procedures as needed with guidance from the manager. Recognize when escalation of a situation is necessary.  Utilize a general understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws as well as a general understanding of Unemployment, FCRA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, and Federal Motor Carrier regulations.
  • Perform HR administration and benefits transactions in the HR system, and other applications as appropriate, within scheduled timeframes with a high degree of accuracy and strict adherence to written procedures. Contact managers and region coordinators when paperwork is incomplete or inaccurate.  Ensure Company directed approvals are received.  Keep documented procedures updated.
  • Assist with the on-boarding process. Also perform E-verify responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with other departments utilizing an understanding of the workings and interrelations of the departments and systems, such as recruiting, payroll and ADP Vantage.
  • Manage the Company’s legal personnel records by ensuring all required paperwork is obtained and is reviewed for accuracy and compliance.
  • Run various interfaces, queries and reports to transfer data to vendors or share information with management. Perform monitoring procedures to maintain compliance and data integrity. Assist in testing of upgrades to PeopleSoft, vendor interfaces, etc., as needed.
  • Utilize the HRSC case management system and other tools to actively manage caseload in accordance with team production goals and established quality standards.
  • Understand all Company offered benefits and annual changes in order to assist new hires and employees during Open Enrollment.
  • Perform special projects when requested.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an office environment, preferably in Human Resources with general knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws, as well as FCRA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA and Federal Motor Carrier regulations
  • Prior experience with HR / Payroll systems is preferred. 
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products like Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Understands basic office protocol and demonstrates strong communication skills and professionalism.
  • HR Service Center and PeopleSoft experience a plus.
