We have an exciting opportunity for a Safety Service Manager to ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, including DOT, OSHA, EPA, and NFPA, as well as various state and local regulations related to the storage and distribution of propane and liquid fuels. Additional responsibilities include the supervision of Area Technicians throughout New England - CT, MA, ME, NH, RI, VT.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and ensure compliance Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) regulations within the area of operations to assist Customer Service Centers (CSCs) and Region Management in support of company Safety programs.
  • Provides guidance to ensure Operations receives clear policies and procedures to operate within regulatory requirements.
  • Assists with incident/accident investigations and provides emergency response guidance, coordinating contingency plans.
  • Reviews incident, injury, and illness reports and recommends corrective action plans.
  • Works with Safety and Fleet groups to monitor, investigate, and manage DOT Compliance Safety Accountability (CSA) BASICS, providing recommendations and documentation to challenge questionable violations and reduce violations to maintain an acceptable CSA score.
  • Provides support to Safe Driving initiatives and programs.
  • Responsible for completion of regional Safety Compliance Review program.
  • Assists in the completion of special projects as directed by Supervisor.

Extended hours may be required to support business needs, including overnight travel as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two-year degree in a technical field (science or engineering) or equivalent experience in compliance and training. Trade certifications may also be considered.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in the propane industry or experience in a safety-focused role within a similar industry.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, and NFPA regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate regulatory and company policy information to employees in groups and in some cases one-on-one.
  • Ability to write accurate and concise reports pertaining to incident investigations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Should possess the ability to work under pressure and take control during a crisis situation.
